Stacey Rozich and New Gallery Opening

Thursday May 2nd we opened our brand new gallery space with a solo exhibition by Stacey Rozich. The opening was packed all night long and was a wonderful "warming" of the new space.

We are really excited for our upcoming show with red hot Northwest artist Stacey Rozich. Her work is a bit different than our usual offering, but we are absolutely enchanted by her luminous and darkly moving works than contain a provocative energy. We think she's pretty important and she is really bringing it for her upcoming solo show at the gallery, with some incredible larger works and a series of smaller pieces. We hope you will join us for this truly exciting show in our brand spanking new gallery!

Big Roq La Rue News!

Roq La Rue is moving!
We were informed we were losing our gallery space last Sunday, and by an amazing turn of events found a FANTASTIC new place Monday. This week has been lease wrangling but we signed the papers yesterday! We will be moving to Seattle's historic pioneer square neighborhood, home of Seattle largest art walk every first Thursday. Our new space is gorgeous and elegant with a main floor gallery and a loft "project room" space. We will post pics as we build it out for optimum gorgeousness. As bummed out as we are to lose our space and leave Belltown, we are ultra excited about this new beginning in this fabulous new space. We will be hosting new shows in the new space this summer! UPDATE!! 

It's official! We will be opening our brand spanking new space in Pioneer Square on May 2nd with our Stacey Rozich show (First Thursday). The Travis Louie show on Friday is our LAST BELLTOWN SHOW so come join us give the old Roq a fond farewell (we will have a guest performance by Vin Voleur as well!)

We are thrilled to announce we are showing a variety of NW artists Casey Curran's wall mounted kinetic sculptures this February alongside the artwork of Sam Wolfe Connelly. Curran's work has a hyper-opulent, darkly organic feel and we could not be more thrilled to be welcoming him to Roq La Rue.

Interview With Ryan Heshka

Our friends at This Is So Contemporary have posted a nice interview with artist Ryan Heshka!

Sneak Peek~ Martin Wittfooth

This gorgeous painting is entitled "Escaton" and will be on exhibit at Roq La Rue's "I'll Love You Til The End Of The World" show opening January 11th!

Martin says: "Eschaton" means "end times". It is a term that author/lecturer/philosopher Terence McKenna referred to often in his talks and so forth, however his angle on it was that the end of history as we know it could simply mean a collective change in consciousness, with a great deal of people "waking up" primarily with the help of such tools as psychedelics. Or if we don't all begin to wake up and soon, then there really is cause to worry about this term. The painting is a bit of an homage to him and these rants in particular, considering the theme of the show."

January 11th we will be opening a new group show entitled "I'll Love You 'Til The End Of The World", themed around the idea of evaded apocalypse and the hope for the future and melancholy for what mankind has already wrought. The idea for the show came from musician Nick Cave's song of the same title, which was also offered to the artists as an inspiration jump off point.

We will have this beautiful new print by John Brophy available at his opening (and onwards) on November 9th. Entitled "The Oracle" it is giclee on thick stock and the image is 11"x 14". $250 each.

This print will be released on November 9th at 5pm and will be available to walk in clientele only. First come first serve, one per family. We will be taking CASH ONLY. Any left over prints will be released the following week on Roq La Rue's website.We are not maintaining a wait list for the prints.
